It should be noted, once again, that a DANA (colloquially called "cold drop") is not synonymous with torrential rains.

In order for them to occur, they must be placed in a certain area and must be accompanied by other factors that trigger heavy rains.

All these factors are likely to coincide in some areas of Spain in the first half of next week.

A DANA will be formed between Monday and Tuesday, which will be placed on the southwest of the peninsula.

In this position, your “attack zone� will be the Mediterranean zone, where the rains will be widespread.

On Wednesday it would move a little eastward, being the most unstable area in northeastern Spain.

Regarding the intensity of the rains, the wind direction will be decisive, which must be a long way over the Mediterranean Sea so that they are torrential.

With the data now available, a small low pressure would form between Alicante, the Balearic Islands and Algeria, directing the eastwind of the province of Valencia to the north, mainly.

Therefore, it is likely that on Monday afternoon instability will increase markedly, with rains in the Region of Murcia that would also fall on Tuesday.

In principle they could be locally strong and persistent, but they would have nothing to do with the September situation.

Now, a small movement of the DANA a little further south would make Murcia stay fully in its most unstable area, low pressure could form in the Alboran Sea and, therefore, the humid and warm stream of wind from lift would impact the southeast.

Totana Civil Protection recommends that citizens not be alarmed, keep calm and be informed only by official and non-sensational means.

For now we will have abundant and beneficial rains in the southeast, but in other areas they can be torrential, so we will be vigilant in the coming days in case those small changes can significantly increase rainfall in our area.
