The exhibition of ceramic works "CeramiCómic" arrives in Totana after touring several cities in the Region of Murcia, remaining open to the public from October 25 to November 7 in the municipal hall "Gregorio Cebrián".
The Councilor for Culture, Verónica Carricondo, and the promoters of the project, the artisan Antonio Martínez de Alfarería "El Poveo" and the professor and artist Vicente Tiburcio, have presented this initiative, which will offer new exhibitions in Totana.
The sample schedule will be from Monday to Saturday, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
and on Sundays and holidays, from 12:00 to 14:00 and from 18:00 to 21:00, respectively.
The itinerant exhibition, which its promoters define as "a hybrid between gallery and crafts", will offer unique pieces;
and has already toured other places such as the Regional Craft Center in Murcia, Cartagena and Lorca.
The exhibition arises from the fusion of the artisan technique developed by the Pottery "El Poveo" of Totana and by the artist Vicente Tiburcio, getting new products fruits of the union of art and crafts. In it they present a series of sculptures, ceramic elements and decorative inspired by the comics created by Vicente Tiburcio, shows premium of unique works full of color. Pottery "El Poveo" is an artisanal workshop of family tradition, which produces its products since the beginning of the century without interruption.
At the head of the workshop are Mercedes and Antonio "El Poveo", continuing the 4th generation of potters.
His pieces keep very old forms and decorations alive.
Its ceramics are decorative and totally utilitarian on a daily basis due to its excellent enamel finish on fire.
At present, it is one of the few workshops in production and in full activity located on the Rambla de La Santa, historical enclave of all the old potteries of the city of Totana. Vicente Tiburcio Caballero, a native of Cartagena, has a degree in Fine Arts from the Faculty of Valencia great artist recognized internationally as a creator of comics among other virtues such as writer, teacher, graphic designer, publicist, among others;
and has also attended numerous international fairs and exhibitions.
