The VII International Symposium of Lipodystrophies held at the State Reference Center for People and Families with Rare Diseases in Burgos from October 4 to 5, had two workshops, one for nutrition and dietetics and another for self-care and personal image.
María González Rodríguez, Dietitian-Nutritionist, Endocrinology and Nutrition Service of the University Hospital Complex of Santiago, was in charge of carrying out the first of the workshops that were carried out, approaching dietary guidelines and various proposals that made all the attendees interact, showing that our food and health is compromised daily by a bad practice and by not following medical advice.
One of the proposals was the realization of a test of adherence to the Mediterranean diet in which many of the families and people affected did not exceed the minimum score to pass it.
On the other hand, Maite Embid, a nurse at the Therapeutic Makeup Unit of the Ramón y Cajal University Hospital in Madrid, was in charge of giving the self-care and personal image workshop highlighting in a brief presentation everything that this unit has implemented since its creation in 2008 and making available with Belinda Gomez Redondo, all the experience they have to make up and hide imperfections caused by diseases.
In this sense, the families who wanted it, were able to put on makeup and check first-hand the techniques of this unit that is a reference in this practice nationwide
