Adif High Speed ​​has recently awarded for 59,277,633 euros the contract for the construction of the platform of a new section belonging to the Mediterranean High Speed ​​Corridor on the Murcia-Almeria route.
Specifically, it is the route between Totana and Lorca.
This action includes all construction and civil engineering work planned in the project of the new high-speed connection between Murcia and Almeria, planned for mixed traffic (travelers and goods).
The objective of the project is to generate in this section a railway platform for double track that allows the circulation of trains at speeds of up to 300 kilometers per hour.
These actions are part of Adif's commitment to guarantee the full integration and permeability of the new railway infrastructures in the territories through which they run, as well as to increase the reliability of railway traffic and passenger comfort.
The Murcia-Almeria high-speed line is 200 kilometers long.
The contract has been awarded to Contracts and Sales (Convensa) and has an execution period of 32 months.
The Totana-Lorca section has a length of 13.35 kilometers that run through both municipalities.
The most significant structures of the route include the construction of a viaduct, five overpasses for the crossing of roads and paths, a pedestrian underpass, a pedestrian walkway, the extension of the La Hoya station and the construction of a new station in Lorca .
In addition, Adif has awarded an amount of 2,615,129 euros for the consulting and technical assistance contract for the control of the works of this section.
Adif believes that this new award provides an important boost to the development of the necessary actions to complete Almería's connection to the high-speed network in the shortest possible time.
