Adif Alta Speed ​​has tendered a new contract for the supply and transport of ballast for the construction works of the Mediterranean Corridor and the High Speed ​​Line (LAV) Murcia-Almería, in the Nonduermas-Sangonera and Totana-Lorca sections, both located in the province of Murcia.
The contract is tendered for an amount of 2,076,049.82 euros (VAT included).
It includes the extraction of stone for the manufacture of 93,000 tons of ballast (stone material that supports the road), its temporary storage in the quarry's regulatory preparations, the preparation of the necessary surfaces for this use and its cargo destined for storage areas established by Adif.
With this new tender, a further impetus is given to the development of the necessary actions in order to complete Almería's connection to the high-speed network in the shortest possible time.
The objective of the project is to generate in this section a railway platform for double track that allows the circulation of trains at speeds of up to 300 km / h.
These actions are part of Adif's commitment to guarantee the full integration and permeability of the new railway infrastructures in the territories through which they run, as well as to increase the reliability of railway traffic and passenger comfort.
The Murcia-Almeria High Speed ​​Line has an approximate length of 186.1 kilometers, of which 103.2 kilometers run through the province of Almería and the remaining 82.9 kilometers through the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
Nonduermas-Sangonera and Totana-Lorca
The Nonduermas-Sangonera section (8.8 km long), whose works were awarded for more than 86.5 million euros (VAT included), runs through the municipal terms of Murcia and Alcantarilla.
The section Totana-Lorca has a length of 13.35 km that run through the municipalities of Totana and Lorca.
The construction of the section is tendered for an amount exceeding 81.7 million euros (VAT included) with a term of 32 months.
The ballast is a type of aggregate of a variable grain size between 40 and 150 mm approximately: its use ranges from construction to industrial applications.
An internationally extended use is in the construction of railways.
