The Reception Unit of the Municipal Center of Social Services, a key service from which most of the professional activity that the Center offers to all the residents of Totana starts, has made a total of 6,488 attentions during the first half of 2019.
The different programs and services of the Center offer professional and personalized attention depending on the characteristics of each person or family unit.
In the first place, the technicians value the initial demand to later specify the attention from the service in the most appropriate and personalized way.
Thus, from the attention in reception and administration it is derived to the social work units, orientation to immigrants in immigration procedures, psychological support, orientation and support to drug addicts and their families, location and follow-up of people with work sentences for the benefit of the community, support for social inclusion and work with families whose children are in a situation of special difficulty.
Among the groups that have required the services of the Center, according to the percentage of users, the sector that has demanded the most attention has been that of family and children with 34%, followed by the one made up of elderly people who have accounted for 24%, adding between both something more than half of the demand attended.
Likewise, the actions of the disabled people sector have occupied a high volume, around 16%, as well as that of the foreign population in matters specific to their immigrant status, assuming more than 10% of care.
In smaller percentages, there have been other sectors of the population in need that have also received social attention, such as women, ethnic minorities, youth, drug addicts, inmates and ex-inmates, mentally ill, migrants and passers-by, among others .
In addition, the activity of the Center is co-financed, in addition to the City Council itself, the Ministry of Health, Consumption and Social Welfare, and the Department of Family and Equal Opportunities of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
