The Local Police of Totana adheres to the special campaign of the Directorate General of Traffic on Safety Belt and Child Retention Systems (SRI) that will take place from March 11 to 17, according to sources from the Headquarters.
The use of approved restraint systems, safety belts and SRI, as reported by the DGT, has been demonstrated as the most simple, cost-effective and effective road safety system in all types of roads and routes.
The use of seatbelts and SRIs is useful in any short or long distance, urban and interurban.
All occupants of a vehicle must be subject to its proper restraint system.
The travel of the safety belt or harness should never go above the neck;
and should be adjusted as low as possible on the hips and without gaps.
The safety belt is a basic and fundamental element of road safety and halves the risk of death in the event of an accident.
The airbag is not effective if it is not complemented by the use of the safety belt, since the safety belt and the airbag are designed to work in a complementary way.
Not using it in the rear seats is a great risk, since in a frontal impact, the probability that a rear seat occupant will fatally strike another passenger in the front seats can be up to 8 times higher.
