Municipal authorities meet with parents of users of the Day Center for People with Intellectual Disabilities "José Moyá" in order to evaluate new programs, activities and professionals incorporated in recent weeks to improve the provision of services.
The mayor, Andrés García, and the Councilor for Social Welfare, Javier Baños, have recently met with the families of the users to inform them of the improvements made in terms of technical staff in the center's multidisciplinary team, as well as the infrastructure and acquired material to improve the quality of the programs that are provided.
The meeting with the tutors of the users was very productive as well as the degree of acceptance of these, who transferred to the municipal managers their satisfaction with the current operation of the center and the improvements made.
In this sense, it was reported the increase of a new auxiliary and the increase of hours of the nurse (full-time in the centers agreement only takes 12 hours-, increase in the hours of physiotherapy (six more hours in 2019, in total 11 hours more above the agreement) and stability in the position of social worker (does not depend on Social Services, but specific to the day centers).
In addition, he realized the incorporation of professionals of the Day Center for Mental Illness through programs and workshops that improve the quantity and quality of the program of activities that is taught (autonomy workshop, dance workshop, cognitive stimulation, etc.) .
The people in charge of the City Council of Totana explained all the improvements in infrastructures and the acquisition of material to improve the quality of assistance in both day centers.
The service for people in a situation of dependency is organized to offer a program of rehabilitation and promotion of personal autonomy, since it is a resource that allows the dependent person to stay in their home and familiar family and social environment.
The objectives are to recover and maintain the highest degree of autonomy possible, offer support aimed at developing faculties in all areas of adaptive skills and personal development and improve the quality of life of people, as well as their self-esteem and psycho-affective status, among others. .
