The totanero councilor, on behalf of the municipal corporation and all the residents of Totana, wanted to have a special gesture of affection and proximity to one of the neighbors that has most prestigiously named Totana and has struggled to maintain, Through the trovo, popular traditions and cultural customs of the municipality and the Region of Murcia.
During the whole day he has received the visit of numerous relatives, neighbors and friends of the world of trovo and popular folklore Murcia.
The City of Totana already delivered in February 2010 the Title of Adoptive Son, as set out in the protocol of Protocol and Ceremonial of the totanero Consistory, Juan Tudela Legs, in an emotional event that took place in the Sociocultural Center Jail.
Two years later, in February 2012, coinciding with his 100th birthday, Totana paid an institutional tribute to Tío Juan Rita, by inaugurating a square that bears his name in the area of ​​Triptolemos, between Mazarron Avenue and Cartagena Street. from this city.
The "Tío Juan Rita" as he is known in the local and regional cultural field is a man of an enviable artistic and human career, closely linked to the municipality of Totana, where he has lived for many years.
He was born in Aledo on February 14, 1912, but the vicissitudes of life moved him, along with his mother and a brother to Zúñiga, in the municipality of Lorca, from where it was natural and lived until he got married.
Indeed, last year he was awarded the Community Gold Medal on the occasion of the feast of June 9, Day of the Region, the Murcian troubadour, for representing "the living legacy of the traditions of the Region of Murcia."
