The community of irrigators of Totana has replaced its traditional channeling in the open sky with a new PVC pipeline, of 720 meters in length and 250 millimeters in diameter, which allows it to save 10 percent of the water that circulates through this pipeline and makes possible a better control of irrigators' consumption.
Likewise, five general irrigation outlets equipped with a 200-millimeter counter have been installed.
The Minister of Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Miguel Angel del Amor, visited today this work, located at the 7th takeover, where he stressed that "the installation of these five points of intake to the plots that supply water to this pipeline , with valves and ultrasonic counters, will allow remote control for its operation and remote reading ".
The regional government, to carry out this work, has made an investment of 46,000 euros, "with which it has managed to avoid water losses, which benefits all users of this community of irrigators," said Del Amor.
Thanks to the measures that are being carried out, said the Minister, "85 percent of irrigation in the Region of Murcia is modernized and in this way the regional government continues in its effort to optimize water resources fighting to alleviate the structural deficit and lack of water ".
