The Office of Socioeconomic Impulse of the General Directorate of Natural Environment of the Autonomous Community has informed the Totana City Council of the adoption of necessary measures to guarantee the success of the breeding cycle of the eagle specimens existing in different natural areas of the Sierra Regional Park Espuña, and that affect the municipalities of Totana and Alhama de Murcia, respectively.
These measures are, among others, to close to the public the passage to the nesting area of the golden eagle in the area called the "Solana del Pedro López", located in the public mountain number 29 of the Sierra Espuña de Totana regional park, during the period of time between the months of January and June 2019, both inclusive.
The passage affects an itinerary of 2.4 kilometers of route that passes through the "Solana del Pedro López", from the place of Cuevas de la Plata until overcoming the nesting cliffs.
This closure does not affect the use of the La Carrasca-El Pinillo forest trail and the Pedro López Trail PR-MU-63, belonging to the Natural Trails Network of the Region of Murcia.
In fact, a sign will be installed temporarily at the point of access to the path, in the vicinity of the site of Cuevas de la Plata indicating the express prohibition of access to the area.
The access to the Cueva Luengas, with a disqualification of five kilometers of route and during the same period of time, will also be closed to the public, in the Alhama de Murcia term.
