More than half a hundred students have participated during this weekend in the VII Training Conference on Physical and Organic Disability that have been held at the Center for Permanent Training in Hemophilia "Hermanos Manuel and Javier Moreno", in the urbanization "La Charca "
Knowing the reality of disability and ending stereotypes and disinformation of this social and health reality were some of the objectives that brought together university students and people with physical and organic disabilities in the Region.
The opening ceremony of these was held last Friday afternoon and was attended by the mayor, Andrés García, the general director of Attention to Diversity and Educational Quality, Francisco José Martínez Casanova;
vice-rector of Coordination and Welfare Services of the UMU, Paloma Sobrado;
and the General Director of Universities and Research, Juan Monzó Cabrera.
Also present was the first deputy mayor, Juan José Cánovas, and other members of the municipal Corporation.
The conference on disability, organized by FAMDIF for more than twenty years, brought together students from the University of Murcia (UMU) with volunteers and young people with disabilities in the same space until next Sunday.
This year, the conference dealt with three main topics: the right to personal autonomy, the right to accessibility and the right to sexuality.
In addition to the talks, students of the UMU will coexist with young people with disabilities during the three days participating in the faculty of nursing, education, psychology and social work.
