Councilwoman Crafts, Antonia Camacho, accompanied by the president of the Association of Artisans of Totana, Rosa María Sáinz, attended the opening ceremony of the Handicraft Fair of the Region of Murcia (Feramur), which has opened in its thirtieth fifth edition in the new Lorca Trade and Congress Palace, built after the demolition of the Santa Quiteria site due to the damage caused by the 2011 earthquakes.
The new site allows Feramur to have 142 exhibitors, compared to 35 last year, have an exhibition area of ​​4,000 square meters and expand its budget to exceed 200,000 euros.
The event was attended by the Minister of Employment, Universities, Business and Environment, Javier Celdrán, the mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, and the general director of Commerce, Francisco Abril, among other regional and local authorities.
The Handicraft Fair is celebrated from this Thursday in Lorca and until Sunday 30, where the totanero artisans "Alfar Tudela", "El Poveo" and "Bambalina" exhibit.
During the four days of the exhibition, which will coincide with the festivities of the town, activities will be held to bring crafts closer to the public and reinforce the image of their quality products, such as demonstrations, workshops and gastronomic tastings.
Until Sunday we will offer demonstrations of lorraine jarapa fabric in manual cloth, bobbin lace, glass blowing, shoemaking, leather goods and leather engraving;
as well as demonstrations of goldsmithing, engraving and carving of glass or decoration of fans.
There will also be demonstrations of pottery and painting on ceramics, stone carving, modeling clay figures, wool embroidery or parades of headdresses, silverware and accessories, among other crafts.
In addition, workshops include mosaics, silk and gold embroidery, clay sculpture and molding of nativity figures, cold porcelain modeling and artisanal bread making, among others.
Every day there will be tastings of artisan products at 13 and 20 hours.
