The Government delegate assures that his personal and political commitment to meet the demands of the neighbors has been possible thanks to the sensitivity of the Minister of Development and the Secretary of State
The government delegate, Diego Conesa, announced this morning in Totana a modification of the layout of the Mediterranean Corridor passing through this town to minimize the impact on the neighbors, who, for months, have demonstrated against the original layout.
"With the project practically finished, it was not easy to rectify the situation.
The Mediterranean Corridor has deadlines to meet, and stopping or delaying one of the planned bids is extremely complicated.
Even so, I have always stated that we must build the infrastructure that is necessary for the well-being of citizens, and that is why I committed myself to them, even before being a delegate of the Government, to help the neighbors in any way I could " explained the government delegate, insisting that after many hours of discreet meetings, negotiations and phone calls, a modification as complicated as this has been achieved thanks to the predisposition and sensitivity to those affected shown by the Minister of Development, José Luis Ábalos , and his Secretary of State, Pedro Saura.
Diego Conesa has detailed that ADIF will shortly give final approval to the project of the Mediterranean Corridor between Sangonera and Lorca, taking the final section of the municipal district of Totana to draft a new proposal that fits the maximum to the layout that was already approved in 2011 and with the least possible impact on neighbors.
This proposal, he added, will be developed and approved in the coming months and its tender will coincide with that of the other remaining sections so that the entire Mediterranean Corridor is completed and put into operation within the deadlines and without delays.
The delegate of the Government has indicated that, although his first contact with the affected neighbors was on May 10, when he did not occupy, nor thought, this responsibility, the negotiations related to this matter began the same day of his inauguration, the 19th. June, which shows, has declared, that "this issue was a priority in my agenda."
