A series of simple recommendations are offered to avoid inappropriate manipulation and unnecessary risks by users
The Apiculture Unit of Civil Protection of Totana has activated a few weeks ago the swarm collection device coinciding with the arrival of spring and the time of possible proliferation of swarms due to flowering.
From Civil Protection it is reported that if a swarm of bees is found, you must remain calm, keep a safe distance and call 968424252 or 112;
and also you should not use any product or maneuver to exterminate them, as they are protected. In addition, it is recommended to differentiate between bees and wasps, since the latter are easy to remove by oneself and does not require the action of an emergency device, except in very specific cases.
Likewise, it is advisable to avoid any inappropriate manipulation of the swarm by inexperienced personnel;
and not try to move it away by throwing objects or any practice that alters the tranquility of the swarm.
Also, do not use any type of insecticide or poison against the swarm, because the bees are protected and it is our job not to lose them forever.
If we see the swarm in flight, we must remain calm and seek without running a refuge to have it near;
if not, we just lie on the ground, so that with this simple gesture we will avoid the possibility that they may try to rest on our body.
