The City of Totana commemorates today, April 29, the World Animal Day advocating the promotion and development of policies against animal abuse, through the symbolic placement of a sign with an orange ribbon on the main facade of the town hall, in the Plaza de la Constitución.
This initiative has been promoted jointly by the councils of Animal Protection and Health of the Totanero Consistory, and will remain in this space for a few days.
Precisely, the totanero Consistory created at the beginning of this legislature the Department of Animal Protection in order to promote actions in this regard;
and in fact, it was one of the first town councils in the region to agree to ban circuses with animals in the municipality.
In the initiative, approved in September of 2015, it was also agreed to establish the necessary changes within the municipal regulations of this City Council to explicitly prohibit, in the municipality, the fights of animals of any kind, use wild animals in captivity in circuses, as well as the use of animals in activities that suppose disregard for their dignity.
