An environmental project valued at more than 200,000 euros prevent forest fires and increase the diversity of flora and fauna in the place of the sanctuary of the Holy.
Therefore, the City Council recently approved by the Local Government project, the company, "Technical Study Cosmos 3G, SL", with a total of 212,721.41 euros for the implementation of the reclamation works, conservation, reforestation of Mount of the Holy, financed by the State Fund for Employment and Local Sustainability in order to contribute to the economic, social and environmental municipality.
The performance area is located on Mount N º 83, of Paraje de La Santa, in the natural park of Sierra Espuña.
The actions foreseen in the project intended to prevent forest fires, by varying the model of forest fuel and disposing of large volumes of debris, reduce the risk of pests that threaten the health of forests and increase biodiversity or biological diversity, which implies directly increase the diversity of flora and indirectly the diversity of fauna.
Also, as explained Councillor for Planning and Sustainable Development, María José Bedia, will take the steps necessary to control erosion and prevent desertification, promote soil permeability and water retention, with the importance involved.
In this way, said that being a semi-arid area, is to avoid the loss of scenic quality of forest ecosystems, and proceed to reforestation with native species.
