Participants in the project "Integration of children and youth rehabilitative" of the Department of Social Welfare and Citizenship recently visited the tower of the Church of Santiago and the offices of the new building of the local police in Totana, which falls within the planned activities with the aim of bringing young people to historical and cultural heritage of the municipality and awareness of the environment has made two visits in the town recently.
The participants could see first hand the Tower of the Church of Santiago, an emblematic part of Totana, guided throughout by the priest José Andrés, who kindly offered to explain the history of the tower and its use over the years .
Later, young people visited the exhibition of local police and the objects that most caught the attention of the participants were some of the police uniforms stated therein, such as the New York Police and Canada, among other items.
After the visit to the exhibition, answered questions from young people, and then visited the different rooms of the building, including training room, the dealer or cells.
All children participated actively at all times, inquiring about the facts and details that were known and admired the city from a unique perspective.
In addition to these visits, the project's activities continue to unfold in the Old Institute on Monday and Wednesday afternoons from 17:00 to 19:00
The project is part of the proceedings that the Department of Social Welfare and Citizenship developed to promote the social advancement of groups at risk of social exclusion and is aimed at children aged between 12 and 16.
Its main objective is to encourage and compensate for learning processes, and enhance abilities, skills and attitudes to inclusion, social participation and citizen coexistence and preventing the emergence of future situations of exclusion, vulnerability and social conflict.
During the next few weeks are going to carry out different social and educational activities within this project, such as workshops promoting self-esteem, creative workshops, resources, youth, substance abuse prevention, career guidance and information, among others.
