Complete the refurbishment and transformation of the Avenida Paseo de la Rambla de La Santa (31/03/2010)

The Councillor for Planning and Sustainable Development, María José Bedia, has reported that the refurbishment of the promenade of Avenida de la Rambla de La Santa, which become the main access road to the town of Totana after completion works round the Avenida Juan Carlos I, have been completed as it was expected before the celebration of Easter.

As the mayor pointed out the improvement works have been undertaken in two tranches, on the right and left of that avenue, from the Bridge Street Bridge Street to the Cross of the Gardeners.

These works, referred to in the Work Plan of the Local Investment Fund have been executed by the company "UTE-Pavasal Asphalt Pavement Lario, SA", which has hired unemployed people in the county, with a budget of 774,059 euros '46.

The works, as the mayor pointed out, has involved the demolition of the sidewalk, and replacing the existing pavement, which was completely damaged by precast concrete paving and placement of reinforcement market.

It has also replaced the third reforesting trees over palm trees, brachichitos and orange trees that give more shade to pedestrians and better adapted to this climate.

Similarly, street lighting has also been replaced by a more efficient energy saving and fire hydrants were installed, under a grant from the Directorate General of Crafts and Trade, to provide increased security during the celebration of weekly market.

All these works, financed by the State, the City and the Autonomous Region have been carried out from the bridge of San Antonio until Ollerías Bridge, will be complemented by those that will run through the POS 2009 for an amount that reaches the figure of 70,000 euros.

With this work and the work being done in the Avenida Juan Carlos I, along with the expansion of the bridge of the Kabuki, this avenue will become a main thoroughfare for pedestrians and traffic as an alternative to providing direct access to the urban the municipality.

The Councillor for Planning and Sustainable Development, which has expressed its satisfaction at the end of them, as they have met the deadlines for the second leg, said that these works were necessary to standardize the mall providing security to the area for both merchants as for pedestrians.
