Full institutional support project of the Mediterranean Food City (10/02/2010)

The Full Council of Totana special meeting tomorrow will discuss the motion to approve the draft City of Mediterranean Food (CIAM) which includes the installation in Totana an industrial park specializing in the food sector, which includes development of a Special Industrial Park, construction of a logistics center and the launch of Campus Food

The manifest corporate institutional support of the Plenary Council of Totana to the location of the City of Mediterranean Food (CIAM) in the town of Totana, in addition to formally ask the Autonomous Community of Murcia to the project and its location Totana be taken into account as a draft and final location of the future of the Food City Region of Murcia.

The mayor of Industry, José Antonio Valverde Queen, recalled that the Consistory has been working for months in preparation and development of this project is part of the Strategic Plan "Growing Totana 2013" and will contribute directly and decisively to the future the municipality and the local backbone of the area and the Region of Murcia.

In this sense, Valverde Queen has indicated that this project "serious, solid and viable favor the generation of hundreds of jobs and investment in the city, needs the unanimous support of all political groups that make up the City."

Among other things, the council has explained that the three pillars of the Food City project is the installation of a Special Industrial Park, construction of a logistics center and development of the Campus Food, which will give great added value the research infrastructure to enter university in the project.

This Specialized Industrial Park would be used to start up businesses in the productive sectors of food in general, auxiliary enterprises and service agencies and public institutions and related private sector.

Moreover, the logistics center would be a service-based infrastructure and common platform for companies setting up in this industrial park.

In this sense, the complement of the Intermodal Freight Station would enable better haulage firms in the Industrial Park.

Finally, as noted by the mayor, the Campus Food, which will be launched by the San Antonio Catholic University who has already signed a collaboration agreement is an initiative towards teaching and research, where ofertaría vocational training college and other training offered by masters, doctorate and thesis.

Moreover, as explained Valverde Queen also contemplate a section for applied science and advanced technology center where they highlight a food and an institute of food science and a business incubator that would collect the concerns of students, teachers, researchers and entrepreneurs, among others.

However, the mayor explained that it has done in recent weeks to presenting it in various forums with social partners, business and political as well as to public and private companies in various fields.

Moreover, as pointed Valverde Reina, also the project was presented at the international level in the recent International Exhibition "Fruit Logistica" in Berlin has been warmly welcomed at the various levels and various business forums have known who have unanimously highlights its viability and strength of many of his proposals, agreeing that all implementation of the project "CIAM" will enhance prestige and image of the Region of Murcia and Totana in the food industry in internationally.
