The Mayor of Totana and the president of the UCAM ally (02/02/2010)

The Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, and the president of the San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM), José Luis Mendoza Perez have signed a collaboration agreement for the conduct of proceedings in the Mediterranean Food City (CIAM) related with research and teaching in the food sector that will lead to the implementation of the future Campus Mediterranean Food.

By signing this agreement, which was also attended by Councillor for Industry, José Antonio Valverde Queen, and the research director of Technology Transfer, Tejada Luis Portero, both sides have said they are primarily intended purposes within their respective the establishment of partnerships to enhance the activity of teaching, research and technology transfer, in what will become as the reference of world food.

Totana Mayor stated that the City of Totana is to promote actions under the Local Strategic Plan "Growing Totana 2013", the content, objectives, strategies and actions outlined the economic and social development of the municipality for the coming years.

It also noted that the projects included in this plan have a clear link with the proposed future of the Mediterranean Food City (CIAM), which has been defined as "is a project called to advance measures which can promote initiatives in the industrial field , technology and knowledge and backbone the Region of Murcia in the food industry and make this territory a landmark in the international arena. "

Martínez Andreo has indicated that the San Antonio Catholic University of Murcia is an institution of higher education has among other objectives, the teaching and research for the generation and development of scientific-technical excellence in various fields, preparation of studies and counseling, and collaboration with other organizations whose primary purposes are teaching research, technological development and innovation in the future will be launched in the Industrial Park of Totana.

For his part, President of the UCAM, José Luis Mendoza, has said that by signing this agreement lays the groundwork for what will be a great project for the Region and for Spain, so called on the Autonomous Community Food City to support that eventually develop in Totana.

With the signing of this agreement is intended to meet the scientific and technical needs and training of the companies housed in the future Mediterranean Food City (CIAM), where one of the cornerstones of the same will be the Campus Food.

Through the Campus shall provide common platforms for training, research and development between the UCAM and businesses, developing technical aids, services and innovative solutions to society.

The UCAM in coordination with the city of Totana develop specific actions are indicated by the CIAM companies, among which include the development and coordinated development of research, development and joint development of specialized training programs, vocational training, degree, master's and doctoral students for the reception of the completion of the practicum, scientific-technical and academic, and organize conferences and seminars, among other issues.
