The Department of Women and Equal Opportunities will present a motion in Parliament to be held on Thursday 29 October, to approve the creation of a Domestic Violence Commission, composed of all those involved in gender violence at the municipal level and approve the protocol in cases of gender violence Totana.

Councilwoman Women and Equal Opportunities, Josefa María Sánchez, recalled that the City is conducting the proceedings of the Second Plan for Equal Opportunities between men and women for a period of 2007-2010, within which, one of the actions included in the Area of Violence against Women has been the creation and coordination of a group of multidisciplinary technical work on gender violence, with another of its activities, the development of a protocol that addresses this issue in the town of Totana .

In this sense, the mayor said "we understand the magnitude of the problem of gender violence involved, and despite progress in the awareness of society, yet it is necessary to combine efforts and coordinate actions to eradicate and combat this social evil through the real achievement of equality between women and men "

Therefore, the need arose to develop a protocol for municipal action to address comprehensively the issue of gender violence in Totana.

This action protocol, as explained, is conceived as an instrument to serve as guidelines and coordinate actions by various professionals involved in the intervention of domestic violence in the town of Totana.

It is articulated as a homogeneous system of care in which each actor involved in health, social and police, know what to do, when and who is competent to do so.

So it is a living document review, so you can keep up.

Also, the result of meetings held by the Working Group, which have been present those involved in gender violence, has been the need to develop a working document agreed by all and to address comprehensively the issue of gender violence.

The common objectives of various agencies and staff involved in gender violence is to detect domestic violence situations, coordinating actions and resources, provide attention and prompt response to victims of violence, informing, sensitizing and training both professionals and general population.
