Murcia University taught a course on "Media Education in a Multicultural Society", offered by the Universidad Internacional del Mar, at the headquarters of Totana from 14 to 18 September in the Socio-Cultural Center "The Jail", as reported Councillor for Education, Trini Cayuela.
The mayor expressed her satisfaction that Totana in the previous edition debuted as host of the Sea International University, where he taught a course for the first time encompassed in the curriculum that the University offered during the summer months, and thanked University cooperation and support shown to carry out this initiative of "great significance" in the town.
Through this course, which will be led by Francisco José Ballesta Pagan, is intended to assess the impact of mass media in multicultural society, analyze information and training function of the mass media (press, radio, TV, internet. ..), propose methodological strategies to train citizens in the understanding of media content and establish collaborative proposals between Education and the Media.
The course of 30 hours' duration, be honored for 3 elective credits may be carried out by students, graduates and people interested in the topic that are not linked to academic studies at a set price of 95 euros, and must apply register before September 7.
The Councillor for Education said the "close and good" relationship with the University of Murcia, and highlighted the effort to "increase the availability of quality education, training and cultural town."
