Propose to the House to grant the title of Adopted Son of the loyal and noble city of Totana the official historian of the town, Mateo García Martínez (25/07/2008)

The Councillor for Citizen Participation, Juan Carrion Tudela, has filed a motion in Parliament to grant the title of adopted son of the loyal and noble city of Totana the official historian of the town, Mateo García Martínez and go in his person all the qualities and merits that make it worthy of this honor and distinction.

The proposal also includes the registration of the extract of this agreement in the record book honors of the Corporation, and the convening of an extraordinary plenary session for the sole purpose of that meeting in solemn delivery of the instrument is made stating this distinction.

The mayor pointed out that through the Mayor's motion dated 24 July 2007 was agreed unanimously in the House by the beginning of record appointment by the City Council of Totana of Adopted Son of the City of Totana in favor of Official Chronicler of Totana, Mateo García Martínez, who has already completed.

Mateo Garcia path

Mateo Garcia was born in 1925 in the nearby town of Alhama de Murcia, but his life has been more intimately linked to Totana since his teens, after his family moved to Totana for work, where he settled 67 years ago and even today.

To date, Matthew Garcia has worked in research, study and collection of historical documents relating to the municipality, has been a correspondent for newspapers and radio, lecturer, traveler, writer of ancient documents, collector and self that have brought together a periodicals full of Totana and the region of Guadalentín.

He has also held a wide transmission of information that has allowed the Totana name through the media and collaborations outside the municipality, and has published a dozen books on Totana, while a photographic archive treasures and collections more about this county.

It has been a true student of local historical events and a real writer of the municipality.

This long career and the meticulous editing of interesting publications on historical studies, biographies, documents and images related to Totana, he received the appointment of Official Chronicler of the Loyal and Noble Ciudad de Totana after the completion of the file, in plenary September 12, 2000.
