The Day Centre for Persons with Mental Illness marked World Mental Health Day (13/10/2015)

The Day Centre for Persons with Mental Illness Totana held on Thursday morning the World Day of Mental Health with a program of activities under the theme "Mental health is everyone ', with which it aims to raise awareness residents of the social and welfare reality of these people.

The day started with a simple official ceremony in the hall of the presiding deputy mayor, Andrés García, and attended by the Councillor for Social Welfare Unit and Javier Baños, councilors of the Municipal Corporation, and users of the center professionals in the field of mental health.

In the same appointment also he gave the coordinator of the Health Centre "Totana Sur", Agustina Lopez, social worker at the Mental Health Center of Lorca, Adela Martinez Delgado, director of IES "Juan de la Cierva" Juan Francisco Otálora and the coordinator of the "CAS" of the IES, Maria Jose Sarabia project.

The students of IES "Juan de la Cierva" explained their experience in the "CAS" project, which allowed them to be freshmen IB share projects with users and users of the center, as the organization and staging of the play theatrical "Ithaca" among other education and teaching with these initiatives.

Subsequently, a program with games, activities and delivery of details made by users of the local day center were organized in the Plaza de la Balsa Vieja.

They participated in these first two classes of the school ESO "Reina Sofia" and three fourth of ESO IES "Prado Mayor" and students of mixed health care program held in Totana.

The World Mental Health Day offers citizens the opportunity to reflect and raise awareness about the difficulties that people with mental illness and care opportunities to improve their quality of life face.

According to the WHO, one in four people worldwide suffer from some form of mental disorder throughout his life and 21 million suffer from schizophrenia regardless of location, race or economic status.

In addition, 20% of children and adolescents suffer from some form of mental disorder and less than 25% of people with a mental or psychological disorder are diagnosed and properly treated.

The Day Centre for Persons with Mental Illness d Totana is located in the building of the Multipurpose Center for Persons with Disabilities "Princess Letizia" Carmen Conde street, number 6;

Tirol-Camilleri in the neighborhood.

The center hours are 9:00 to 16:30;

and it is closed on holidays, weekends and August.
