City officials attended Saturday the commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the program International Baccalaureate Diploma to the educational community of IES "Juan de la Cierva y Codorniu" held at the Socio-Cultural Center "Jail" of this town, and in the qu there were also cites other authorities, teachers teachers, students and their families.
The event was attended by Mayor of Totana, Juan José Canovas, Councillor for Education, Eulalia Moreno, and other members of the municipal corporation;
and the general director of Educational Innovation and Attention to Diversity, Ana Millán.
In the same appointment also she gave the deputy director of the Banco Mare Nostrum office, Maria Luis Rodriguez Gonzalez, and his business manager, Maria Jose Canovas Gonzalez, one of the benefactors of this project;
IES director "Hotel Alfonso X the Wise," Rafael Marin, and the coordinator of the International Baccalaureate (IB), María Jesús Jara Florenciano, among others.
The act had the intervention of the program coordinator at the IES "Juan de la Cierva" Margarita Martínez Lorca;
the former student of BI on behalf of all promotions of students, Myriam Barnes Guevara, director of IES, Juan Francisco Otálora, mayor of Totana and the Director General on behalf of the regional government, Ana Millán.
In addition, during this commemoration project an audiovisual project, its evolution and the most significant of it since its inception in 2005 times;
and he concluded with a photograph of graduates with the authorities and the educational team.
The BI was implemented in IES "Juan de la Cierva" in September 2005 and is a form of specific baccalaureate recognized in countries around the world, and that carries on effort by students, their families and teachers involved in the same.
Students who have passed through the group of BI in this center have been 200, of whom 141 have remained two years and of these 110 have been submitted to the examination session Diploma program, getting it a total of 70 students.
These figures do those who pass this course to second Bi and discussed in the next edition of May 2016, and are a total of 18 enrolled are included.
The eleventh promotion has 21 students.
The Ministry of Education authorized the IES "Juan de la Cierva y Codorniu" to impart lessons for the Diploma Internacional to a group of 30 students at most;
in which students of the two existing modalities of Science and Technology are understood;
and Humanities and Social Sciences, respectively.
The Diploma program is a comprehensive training plan with a rigorous curriculum for a course of two years, which can be performed more compatible with the two courses of the curriculum of the Spanish School.
The students in the BI can achieve a double degree since it obtained the title of Bachelor of the Spanish curriculum, better prepared to begin university studies, while they are entitled to present to those proposed by the International exams Bacalaureate Organization (IBO) and get the International Diploma, which is recognized in many and prestigious foreign universities.
For students it means accepting a greater workload and commitment of considerable daily work;
and in return, they receive a solid foundation for future college.
Totana City Council has participated since its inception in the implementation of the project, together with other companies and local authorities, to the extent of its possibilities.
