The plenary discussion Totana economic impact and operation of the new Municipal Water after rescue (27/01/2014)

Totana City Council today held an extraordinary plenary session at the initiative of the opposition groups, whose session the impact and operation of the new Municipal Water was discussed after municipalization process in September 2012.

The Socialist municipal groups and United Left-Greens this session requested by the need to assess and balance economic groups on the impact this decision has had on the city coffers and the management of public water and sewer, respectively.

To do this, the hearing took place before the plenary of the councilors of City Services, María José Bedia, and Finance, María José Baeza, who defended and reviewed the actions that have been made in the last year and a half in that service both materials management.

The three local groups during the session analyzed the financial results and performance of the service, policy interpretation by virtue of technical reports by the municipal services of Finance, Contracting and Services.

In first place, the opposition groups agreed on the "collection effort" of the City and the increase in debt as a result of the decentralization of service.

In this regard, reported losses in the last year valued at 6.7 million euros, among which the existing debt with the Commonwealth Taibilla Channel which amount to almost two million, as expressed during the debate.

They also criticized the lack of efficiency and degradation of service by lower investment and debits, rising delinquencies and debt providers, among others, while described as "disastrous" Operation Rescue both financially and balance service performance.

They also insisted that the rescue service was not improved by the lack of investment and reiterated that the ultimate aim of this has been regular exchange of debt increase sales.

In turn, delegated councilors of City Services, María José Bedia, and Finance, María José Baeza, defended and reviewed the actions that have been made in the last year and a half in the service management in both subjects.

In this regard, criticized the PSOE and IU were interested at this time for the operation of the service and have not done years ago when the service is managed private companies, and reiterated the permanent failures that led to the rescue of the same by the Consistory.

The mayors of Services and Finance recalled that the bailout was supported by a resolution of the Legal Advisory Board of the Region of Murcia, thanks to defaults and hauled deficiencies and low technical performance in service delivery, which was 58% in the time of termination when it should be 80%, and picked up the contract.
