The Department of Social Services has promoted the development of a Community Mediation project in which 26 units were studied group of public housing promotion located in the urbanization "El Parral" Totana.

This project has been developed for two months as part of the practices of two students of a master's degree and has had the collaboration of professional Social Services Centre involved in this area, and is part of the acting performances and revitalization that the Department conducts community level in certain residential areas of the municipality.

Through it, an updated knowledge of the needs and problems of the 26 units convivial living in these homes and has launched a pilot community mediation program directed to them.

Through this program, we have conducted interviews, briefings and mediation between neighbors who are participating voluntarily in order to resolve any conflict they have with other residents or neighbors institution or public or private entity .

This program has shown the dynamics that keep these individuals and families about their community involvement and the actions and strategies that performed at addressing any conflict in your community.

As remarkable data extracted from the implementation of this program, note that although the level of relationship between the neighbors is high, and, in general, friendly and positive, there is a high number of neighbors (42%) is not usually actively participate in the organization and maintenance activities of the community assemblies, fees, other obligations, etc.

It also stresses that larger conflicts detected have to do with non-payment of community fees and related cleaning common areas, and that the processes set in motion by some of the neighbors to solve these conflicts have had a positive effect.

Also, a majority number of neighbors considered that these conflicts can be resolved through a mediation process, so consider these initiatives effective and achievable.
