The Mayor of Totana, Isabel Maria Sanchez, and the rector of the University of Murcia (UMU), José Cobacho will sign next week a collaboration agreement to formalize the educational support project aimed at children and young people in disadvantaged sociocultural.
This is a project sponsored by the Department of Education and Youth of the City of Totana and is done in coordination with the Service and Volunteerism Diversity at the University of Murcia.
The agreement aims to strengthen the educational process to promote personal and social development of children, especially those who are in disadvantaged situations.
Also, this is to prevent and reduce problems of failure, absenteeism and early school dropout.
Currently, involving seven college students living in the town of Totana, and being taught to thirty-five students who are studying between 3 ° and 6 ° of Primary Education.
Each university provides reinforcement in a school and a total of five students.
They provide educational support to students referred from schools for two weekly sessions of an hour and a half hours each, while, in return, volunteers receive college credits and a certificate attesting to the hours of volunteering.
In the same involving seven schools in Totana, in this case, schools "The Cross", "San Jose", "Santiago", "Reina Sofía", "Luis Perez Rueda", "Tierno Galván" and "Santa Eulalia" .
Educational support tasks are started in late January 2013 and end in June.
With this agreement is to provide continuity for the academic year and begin the next reinforcing in advance, between late October and early November.
