Nearly 200 students from schools in the region of Guadalentín participate in the XXIII Olympiad Mathematics hosted by the CEIP "Tierno Galvan" (21/04/2012)

Nearly 200 students from primary and secondary education in different schools of Guadalentín currently participating in the local phase of the XXIII Olympiad Mathematics, whose initiative has the support of the Center for Language and Communication (CPR) of Lorca and the Department of Education, respectively.

The day began with a reception building in the center of education in charge of the Youth Councillors, Bartholomew Pallares, and Culture, Alfonso Cayuela, and also attended by the director of the Center for Language and Communication (CPR) of Lorca, José Gallardo , the center's director totanero, Maria Cabrera, and coordinated the Society of Mathematical Education in the Region of Murcia, Antonio Romera Mellado.

The event, which had been held in different schools in Lorca since 1999, welcomes students from sixth grade and second ESO, respectively, and in the same participants are faced with the resolution of five mathematical problems for a maximum for two hours.

The winners will compete in the regional and national stage will take place in Cartagena and Bilbao, respectively.

The Mathematical Olympiad brings together students from schools of Eagles, Alhama, Lorca, Lorca and Puerto Lumbreras, and its celebration in Totana is to reward high participation of students and educational teams in the latest editions totaneros held.

Participating centers are the CEIP Las Lomas, IES Carlos III, CEIP San Cristobal Diaz-Ginés, CEIP Virgin de las Huertas, CEIP San Jose, CEIP Juan Gonzalez, Sun City College, College Mother of God, Giner Ros IES, IES Prince Asturias, Ramón Arcas IES, IES Juan Bosco, and IES Purias CEIP Nogalte Rambla.

They are joined by those of Totana, which are CEIP La Cruz, Santiago IEPC, IEPC-Deitania District, College Queen Sofia, Juan de la Cierva IES, IES Prado Mayor and the host CEIP Tierno Galván.

The mayor of Youth welcomed the participants and congratulated the students because, he said, "Your very presence at this event is highly significant: his love of mathematics, his skill in this field of knowledge and commitment to their teachers and their school. "

He also commented that it is a pleasure to host this type of Totana educational events coming to boost the social life of the educational community of Totana, and also congratulated the CEIP "Tierno Galvan" for this great initiative, which goes to show that " This is one of the most innovative schools and entrepreneurs from the educational point of view that exist in the municipality. "

During the inauguration, called for this conference not only become a day of exams or problem solving in which not only the competition first, but the initiative is imbued with a spirit of coexistence between students, parents and teachers involved and one day closer to the scientific work of mathematics.

For its part, the director of CEIP Tierno Galvan, Maria Cabrera, said that this initiative is part of the Ninth Scientific Culture Week which celebrates the center and appreciated the involvement and collaboration of teachers and examiners.

The organization also offered to family members and guests a guided tour of the historic center of Totana by the researcher and professor Juan Canovas Mulero during the time that the students did their tests.
