National Ceramic Awards 2011 (04/12/2011)

Totana last night welcomed the delivery of National Ceramic Awards 2011 powered by the Spanish Association of Cities of Ceramics (AECC) for the development of a gala dinner at the Hotel Monasterio Santa Eulalia.

In this edition have been awarded in the category of career, Juan Martinez Villacañas "Tito" in Ubeda, in the form of activity or initiative for the Valencian Association ceramics Avec-Gremio, in the category of disclosure and communication, City of La Rambla (Córdoba) by exposure of pottery and ceramics, and in the form of technical or scientific contribution, Emili Sempere.

During the ceremony, chaired by the Mayor of Totana and president of the AECC, Isabel Maria Sanchez Ruiz, Minister of Universities, Business and Research, José Ballesta, and the Director General Crafts, Mary Dolores Alarcon, also gave awards to the twelve finalists, including the company is totanera, Bellon Potters.

Juan Martinez Villacañas, career mode

Juan Martinez Villacañas "Tito" learned the craft of hand some of the great master potters iron ubetenses and remained in the shop during the severe crisis of the 60's, they closed most historic shops.

Juan Martinez retired in 2006 and has left the shop with his son Juan Pablo who follows the work of his father and grandfather in front of the shop.

AVEC Ceramic Valencian Association GUILD

The AVEC Valencian Association of Ceramics Guild is a non-profit organization that holds the representation of the ceramics sector in the Valencian Community, and is headquartered in Manises.
