"Blue eyes, black hair" (01/12/2011)

This piece is adapted for the stage of one of the latest novels, Blue eyes, black hair (1986), by Marguerite Duras (1914-1996).

Radical author, filmmaker, playwright, and one of the most famous and controversial representatives of French literature, it works like Love, Vice Consul, India Song, Hiroshima, mon amour, The Lover, among others.

The story of Blue, black hair happens at the end of a summer on the Norman coast and staged two characters, him and her, they agree a strange contract, motivated by a CIRCUMSTANCES "extreme", which includes the closing of both, each night in a room in a coastal home.

Apparently, the only object of the agreement is the remembrance of a third party if absent, a tourist, this place definitely part of summer.

As such "contract" established itself as the progressive implementation of a ritual involving a failed struggle against loneliness, fear, and also against the difficult configuration of sexual desire.

Any erotic or simply emotional rapprochement between these characters is not merely an attempt towards a truth that lies covered in the chimera of the foreign tourists, of that "great absence", an "object" of love lost: the blue-eyed man and black hair ...

That is why the theme of the work, expressed by one of the characters, "Maybe love can be lived well, a horrible way," imposed as a resounding warning to a public eager for some relief or any easy answer, or just a frivolous distraction to the bloody theme of the impossibility of love.

We believe that none of this will be in this piece, fitted, apparently, the lyricism cruel truths "durasianas" on the emotional condition of some men and women.

It is not the first time Theatre Company brings to the stage a text of Marguerite Duras, as in the second theatrical season, by 2010, premiered the work to appoint a woman, including multi-part monologue, dialogue-only version , Music.

Both in this work, as in this adaptation of blue eyes, black hair, made by the director of the play, Gilberto D.

Rodriguez Vasquez, the difficult interpretation is provided by Juan Jose Sanchez and Mercedes Garcia who, in collaboration with a team of helpers and technicians, and a sober staging and stripped, take upon himself all the dramatic weight of the work.

Finally, we welcome this invitation to all those involved in this third season of our Theatre Company 2011-2012, because thanks to them we have given representations as Blood Wedding in 2009 or The House of Bernarda Alba, to name a woman in 2010 .

And with what is seen as another dream, the Company returns to present his fourth piece, blue eyes, black hair to the delight and satisfaction of all our audiences.
