An environmental project will prevent forest fires and increase the diversity of the flora and fauna on the site of the shrine of the Holy (15/12/2010)

The Councillor for Planning and Sustainable Development, María José Bedia, visited along with technicians and managers Promovalci Consistory, a company that leads the proceedings, the environmental project valued at more than 200,000 euros, which will prevent forest fires to increase diversity of flora and fauna in the place of the sanctuary of Santa.

This action, as the mayor has pointed out, has a total of 212,721.41 euros, and was funded by the State Fund for Employment and Local Sustainability in order to contribute to the economic, social and environmental municipality.

During the visit, Bedia confirmed the advanced state of cleanliness of the mountain, and technical improvements that are taking as the placement of a security barrier about 500 meters on the road known as the "chalet" and access to recreational area, because in that area there are very pronounced corados.

The performance area is located on Mount No. 83, the hamlet of La Santa, in the natural park of Sierra Espuña and in the recreation area of the annexes to the shrine.

With these actions, as recalled the mayor, prevent forest fires, by varying the model of forest fuel and disposing of large volumes of debris, reduce the risk of pests that threaten the health of forests .

This will be increased biodiversity or biological diversity, which implies directly increase the diversity of flora and indirectly the diversity of fauna.

Also, as explained Councillor for Planning and Sustainable Development, are taking the steps necessary to control erosion and prevent desertification, promote soil permeability and water retention, with the importance that this implies .

In this way, said that being a semi-arid area, is to avoid the loss of scenic quality of forest ecosystems, and proceed to reforestation with native species.
