II Regional Conference "Education in Violence Vs Gender Equality" (05/11/2010)

More than 150 professionals, associations, federations, women, and mayors of several consistory of Murcia have gathered in the Second Regional Conference "Education in Equality vs. Gender Violence" to be held today at the Hotel Monasterio de La Santa.

The conference has been opened by the Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, general director of Prevention and Gender Violence, Teresa Moreno, general director of Family, Gender and Children, Laura Muñoz, and Councilwoman Women and Equal Opportunities , Josefa María Sánchez Méndez.

Through this working group aims to analyze and understand the different courses of action in the process of prevention and intervention of Gender Violence in the Region of Murcia, through professionals working in each of the areas and emphasize the importance of close collaboration and coordination with the entities involved in processes such violence.

Sanchez Mendez explained that through this conference will give a broader view of the victim of gender violence, and to publish the protocols for which are being carried out not only from the town of Totana, adopted at Full Protocol municipal action in cases of domestic violence, prepared by the committee of municipal gender-based violence, but the various protocols of the various public administrations.

In addition, professionals have analyzed the role of family and school in the prevention of gender violence, by a specialist in these issues who has worked and is the author of the pioneering program in the Region of Murcia carried out in the Institutes called "The Mask of Love."

For their part, the general manager and Gender Violence Prevention, Teresa Moreno, general director of Family, Gender and Children, Laura Muñoz, recalled that through the programs promoted by the Regional Government and the policies regarding equality are carried out has been greatly reduced the numbers of women who suffer domestic violence.

Totana Mayor recalled that day like today in Totana developed shows that the Consistory pointer returns to activities that promote equality between men and women by preventing more deaths occur and that the most affected are children , have a better quality of life.

In addition, Martínez Andreo has indicated that the City Council, under the second Equal Opportunities Plan, different protocols are enhanced performance, training and prevention in which the "co-education" plays an important role.

However, encouraged participants at the conference that thanks to the document gesture of this day's work serves as a guide to carrying out other programs that seek to eliminate gender violence in the bud.
