The Plenary of the Municipal Corporation of the City Council unanimously agreed Totana motion filed by the Mayor of Totana, José Martínez Andreo, to support the creation of a Reference Center for the Study and Treatment of Rare Diseases in the municipality.
To this end, the Council of Totana develop the procedure and the corresponding procedures for the sale of municipally owned property, located in the urbanization "La Ramblica" the Federation of Rare Diseases (ERDF) for the construction of this Center and urge the Ministry and the CARM to support the creation and implementation of this action through the appropriate funding
In this sense, Martínez Andreo has shown that people with rare or uncommon diseases are an important group of population, which requires specific compensatory actions in providing services, so it needs to develop comprehensive and multidisciplinary program of geriatric care for Groups rare case of a particular or group of similar diseases, giving priority to children and young people affected, especially the employees, and their families.
Therefore, the mayor of Totana develop and implement necessary facilities and referral services that enable equal opportunities to ensure access to and enjoyment of those rights to people with common diseases and compensate for the shortcomings in care receiving ensuring equity, quality, safety and efficiency in the services provided.
Through this proposal, it shows sensitivity, commitment and closeness of the administration and public authorities in the group of people affected by a rare disease and their families in order to provide an adequate response to the needs and problems presented.
