More than a thousand people in the town of Totana have benefited from the actions carried out by the Department of Women's Rights and Equal Opportunity during the first eight months of 2010.

The council of the municipal area, Josefa María Sánchez Méndez, has made a positive balance of all the awareness campaigns and prevention of gender violence as well as specific training has been offered to the female population.

All these actions have had the cooperation of the Institute of Women of the Region of Murcia, has been framed in the Second Plan for Equal Opportunities, have been divided into several areas of action.

On the one hand, in the area of awareness and information has been called the Drawing Competition IV equality and coeducation aimed at students in grades 5 and 6 primary in order to sensitize the students.

In addition, framed in the area of gender violence and commemorating the International Day of Violence against Women, also held the III Art Contest for Equality, whose registration for the new edition is now open.

Within the area of reconciliation of work, family and staff have done interesting things, among which have highlighted the participation of more than 600 students from primary schools in the municipality in the "Sharing kitchen for children" .

In the area of gender violence, the Department has developed various awareness activities aimed at schools, women associations, and generally the whole population totanera.

The Department of Women and equality organized every year in collaboration with other councils, women's associations and the Municipal Council for Equal Totana, activities and events to mark important dates such as International Women's Day, March 8 ; International Day for Women's Health, May 28, International Day of Rural Women, 15 October, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, November 25, among other activities.
