Students of 4th, 5th and 6th grade of the school 'La Milagrosa' of Totana celebrate tomorrow a campaign of blood donation and recruitment of bone marrow donors within the #Eureka #Healtheworld project.

Between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm, the students will develop a day dedicated to parents and teachers, in which the students will influence values such as altruism and the importance of donations, and in which, until now, More than 100 parents and teachers have signed up to donate their blood at the school, regional government sources said in a statement.

Schoolchildren have received notions about blood and donation and have learned to create materials to promote donation, performing a health promotion service in their immediate environment.

The training of the students has been carried out for three weeks, with lectures given by professionals of the Hemodonation Center.

The children have prepared materials and posters that will be exhibited tomorrow at their center.

The director of the Regional Blood Donation Center, Dr. Vicente Vicente, underlined the repercussion of the visits made to the schools in the Region, so that "the blood donation is presented as an everyday act in our lives".

In this regard, he added that it is "important to continue sensitizing the population to incorporate young people into blood donation, an act that is ultimately a civic responsibility to advance our health system."

To donate blood it is only necessary to be between 18 and 65 years old, weigh more than 50 kilos and be in good health.

In total, there are already more than 20,000 Murcians who have registered, which makes the Region lead together with the Community of Navarra bone marrow donors in Spain.

To become a bone marrow donor, you must be between 18 and 40 years old, well in good health, not suffering from any autoimmune disease and not having been definitively rejected as a blood donor.
