The municipal government supports the partial general strike convened tomorrow by the UGT and CCOO trade union organizations on the occasion of International Women's Day (07/03/2018)

The municipal government of the City of Totana supports the call for a partial general strike called tomorrow by the unions representing workers, UGT and CCOO, on the occasion of the celebration of International Women's Day, which is commemorated every March 8, according to informs the Councilor for Human Resources, Gertrudis Ruiz.

Workers who so wish are called to an information meeting (1:00 pm, at the gates of the City), which will read a manifesto by representatives of both unions and the technicians of the Department of Equality ;

and there will be a minute of silence for equality and against gender violence.

The mayor of Human Resources has stressed that the government team supports the claims and unemployment actions promoted by both unions because it is necessary to stage and make visible the gaps and discrimination that, because of sex, exist in the labor market and give response to the demands and needs of the workers.

On the other hand, the Department of Equality of the City of Totana also encourages all women of Totana, whether public employees or not, to adhere to the actions organized for the general strike on March 8.

According to EPA's fourth-quarter averages data for 2017, the employment gap of 23% persists.

Similarly, 90% of paternity, maternity, and leave of absence for family care are used by women.

Women are the ones who mostly take care of children, daughters or relatives.

92.63% of the people who took leave of absence for the care of their children, with the implication that they have for their professional careers and for their retirement, were women.
