The Municipal Library "Mateo García" is awarded among the more than six hundred municipalities participating in the XVIII Campaign of Animation to Reading "María Moliner" (02/11/2017)

The representatives of the three organizing institutions have selected the 300 projects awarded in the XVIII Campaign of Animation to Reading "María Moliner", convened by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport, the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) and the Coca-Cola Foundation, among which is that of the "Mateo García" library in Totana.

The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports communicated just yesterday afternoon, "Day of the Libraries" to those responsible for the project "50 + 1", which was the one that presented the library "Mateo García" of Totana, whose prize consists of several lots of books for children, youth and adults.

These projects have been chosen among the 601 submitted to this year's edition, of which, the Valuation Commission has selected the 300 best reading promotion programs, whose libraries will receive in the form of a prize a batch of books, financed by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.

The selection process has been carried out by analyzing a series of criteria, scoring each of them.

The clarity and interest of the project for reading animation, good planning and viability, as well as the originality and immersion in new technologies contained in the proposal, are taken into account.

Along with Totana, nine other municipalities in the Murcia region have been awarded: Bullas, Calasparra, Cieza, Librilla, Mazarrón, San Javier, San Pedro del Pinatar, Torre-Pacheco, and Torres de Cotillas, with an amount of 1706 € each.

In addition, the Valuation Commission has determined which three projects were distinguished with the special prizes, and funded by the Coca-Cola Foundation:

* María Moliner Prize for the best reading animation project in municipalities up to 5,000 inhabitants, presented by the Estadilla library (Huesca) for the project "Chiscarabí: magic continues"

* María Moliner Prize for the best reading animation project in municipalities from 5,001 to 20,000 inhabitants, presented by the Verín Library

* María Moliner Prize for the best reading animation project in municipalities of 20,001 to 50,000 inhabitants, presented by the library of Galapagar (Madrid) for the project "La Torre de Babel: building a library for everyone.

From the Department of Culture shows a great satisfaction for the recognition of the project, and appreciates the extraordinary work that is taking place from the library, because somehow the award encourages new ideas to arise and work with more enthusiasm, if it fits.

Also take the opportunity to congratulate the other award-winning libraries.
