Municipal authorities meet with those responsible for the Commonwealth of Taibilla Channels to address the municipal debt, which has been paid since the beginning of this year; (25/09/2017)

and investments to improve service provision |

Municipal authorities have recently met with senior officials of the Commonwealth of Channels of Taibilla (MCT), in its headquarters in Cartagena, in order to address the solution to the debt problem of Totana City Council with this entity, which is being paid since January of this year after several exercises without doing so;

as well as other matters related to this body that directly affect municipal management.

The mayor, Andrés García, the first deputy mayor, Juan José Cánovas, accompanied by the councilors of the Treasury and the Municipal Water Service, Ana María Cánovas and Antonia Camacho, have held a working meeting with the president of the MCT, Adolfo Gallardo, and the general secretary, Carlos Conradi, among others.

During the meeting Totana's political leaders have treated the municipal debt with the Commonwealth of Channels of Taibilla, which is going to work by the municipal government to, along with the established financing measures, to be able to advance in their final payment.

In addition, the assignment of the Casa del Taibilla in Los Aramillejos and investments to improve the endowment in the industrial estate "El Saladar" and the area that supplies the deposit of Virgen de las Huertas was treated.

The MCT had pending collection of six million euros of corresponding quotas from 2011 to 2013, which had been deferred with the Treasury, and whose amounts are currently being paid and will continue to be paid until 2019, which is when the postponement will end.

To this is added the debt due to non-payment derived from the Ministry of Finance and which is being compensated by the monthly income provided by the Ministry to the Consistory totanero;

as well as the debt that is in voluntary period of payment.

The Councilor for Finance has explained that, in the previous legislature, was made against the amount of 2.3 million euros;

while payments of â‚¬ 5.6 million have already been made;

and from the period from September to December is going to pay the amount of 1.8 million euros.

The heads of the joint body have very positively valued the enormous effort being made by the current municipal government team and the efforts that, with firmness and work, are allowing to reduce much of the existing debt.
