The works of adaptation of the Plaza de Abastos de Totana will begin throughout this month of September and will allow for its modernization and enhancement, as announced by the Councilor of the Weekly Market and Plaza de Abastos, Gertrudis Ruiz.
These actions will be undertaken under a subsidy granted by the Ministry of Economic Development, Tourism and Employment, which grants aid to local corporations for the modernization of municipal markets for supplies, as a measure of promotion and dynamization of the sector commercial.
The aid amounts to € 19,504.24 out of a total budget of € 22,946.16.
The works will consist of the renovation of the exterior veneering of the posts, the reform of the ceiling and subsequent painting of the same, placing a door on the main façade, repairing existing toilets, adapting them to the use of people with disabilities, and replacing of sinks and modification of the current steps of access to the building, among others.
Considering that the City of Totana does not have the resources nor the human resources to carry out these reforms, it was necessary to carry out a minor works contract, which was awarded to the company "Viviendas González-Aznar, SL";
and have a duration of approximately two months until completion.
The mayor has stated that all these measures and reforms planned in the Plaza de Abastos de Totana are aimed at enhancing and modernizing the Market Supply.
In a first phase, all these common reforms that affect all the pleasures, users and customers of this building will be tackled;
and later, in a second phase, other tendencies will be made to improve the sales stops that are currently closed without being occupied, adjudicating them to those interested in a medium / short term and, thus, expanding the existing commercial offer .
