Totana City Council will attend the second call for funding of the Strategy for Sustainable Urban Development (EDUSI) of the European Union (21/10/2016)

The EDUSI is a program co-funded with FEDER funds for sustainable growth 2014/2020, whose main objective is to improve the quality of life for residents in an integrated manner;

ie including aspects ranging from social cohesion and the fight against poverty, to the promotion of low-carbon economy, environmental sustainability and resource optimization.

In Totana he intended to EDUSI regeneration of the most degraded neighborhoods, as in the case of the neighborhoods of San Jose, Las Parras, San Roque yThe Jail.

The municipal government now intends to present a project agreed with the political and social actors and with a planned management to ensure that the city is a beneficiary of the funds.

The new call has been opened with the publication of the bases in the Official Gazette (BOE) and the City has 45 working days to submit your project and apply for grants with which to rehabilitate these neighborhoods of the town.

This second call comes after the Consistory left out of the beneficiary municipalities of the 18 million euros of the first, in which Totana aspired to obtain aid for the regeneration of the most degraded neighborhoods.

The Consistory has until Dec. 14 to submit to the EDUSI call a common, inclusive and multidisciplinary project that can raise funds to revive these neighborhoods in the historical district.

In this regard, the mayor, Juan José Canovas, has reported that the municipal government will continue "fighting" to access the second phase (20% of total funding) and said that "we understand that money is tight and that the approved projects in the first round were very interesting. "
