City officials, including the mayor of Totana, Juan José Canovas, and Councilwoman Antonia Camacho was attended yesterday at the close of the Summer Camp Murcian Hemophilia Association in the Day Center and Lifelong Learning "Pond "in this town.

The mayor highlighted the ongoing work of the Murcian Regional Hemophilia Association for nearly 40 years, which has enabled more than 500 children from different parts of Spain to enjoy the summer camp organized every year.

The collaboration between the City of Totana and the association was "historic, continuous and coordinated" over the years and has made possible thanks to this entity and health professionals doctors, that the region was one of the first autonomies that got all hemophiliac population was studied from a genetic point of view.

Patients, children with hemophilia learn other people's experiences living with this disease in order to promote their autonomy, so that the camp held annually in Totana Pond contributes significantly to achieving this objective.

The Hemophilia Association of Murcia has the Day Center and Lifelong Learning in the urbanization "The Pond", which this summer involving a total of 55 children.

The camp has developed between 10 and 21 July;

and it has been carried out recreational activities, educational workshops and self-treatment techniques are explained, as well as physiotherapy and rehabilitation to improve muscle and joint function.

Over 11 days, children have lived with over 20 professionals among whom were physicians, psychologists, nurses, physiotherapists and monitors, among others, to ensure the comprehensive care of children.

Hemophilia is an inherited disease of genetic character, which affects the X chromosome and is manifested by internal or external bleeding.

It is a pathology that transmit women (carriers) and suffering men.

There are two types of hemophilia A and B, which are presented by different phenotypes that determine its severity.

In the region there are 82 patients affected by this disease belonging to 54 families.

Also, there are 104 female carriers of the disease.
