Martinez Bathrooms calls on the Regional Assembly building a sports court in the CEIP San José de Totana (03/03/2016)

The deputy of the Socialist Group, Alfonso Martínez Baños, has filed a motion in the Regional Assembly which calls on the Ministry of Education to conduct a study planning and execution in 2016 for the construction of the arena in CEIP San José de Totana.

Bathrooms Martinez explained that the Centre for Education and Primary "San Jose" Totana is one of the few schools that do not have sports court that complies with appropriate safeguards for their students perform physical activities in optimal conditions.

He also said that at present, the students of that college physical education practice in the courtyard for the recreation of students, with consequent discomfort that can lead to other colleagues who follow classes in their classrooms.

Last January, the Socialist parliamentary group presented a partial amendment to the Draft Budget Law of the Autonomous Region for the year 2016, in which the creation of a game than 100,000 € for the construction of this sports court arose , amendment was rejected for discussion by the Bureau of the Regional Assembly for technical reasons.

Alfonso Martinez explained that in the vicinity of the school, in the neighborhood of San Jose, it was planned to build an infrastructure (social center, locker rooms, showers, ..) which included a multipurpose room, planned as a school hall for students of San jose school.

This building, whose foundation stone was laid in 2007 during the government of the Popular Party, was on an area of ​​395 square meters.

The intention was that the center in addition to allowing students to practice sports in optimal conditions, contribute to revitalize the neighborhood of San Jose, "a neighborhood forgotten and slighted in recent years".

To date, there is only an abandoned and unused for years semiestructura and not known what will be the fate of it.

The socialist parliamentarian recalled that the September 8, 2014, when Pedro Antonio Sanchez, then Minister of Education, visited the school premises San Jose, coinciding with the start of the school year, pledged to representatives of the AMPA and teachers at the school to that track would be built soon, but so far has started some work.

"In this neighborhood live Totana socially disadvantaged groups and the existence of these resources promote integration and making aimed at promoting equal opportunities for those most in need activities," he said.
