The four municipal groups propose an institutional manifesto for approval in the occasion of International Women's Day (22/02/2016)

The four municipal groups represented on the City Council have raised a joint regular plenary February motion, which proposed an institutional manifesto on the occasion of International Women's Day celebrated on March 8.

In the motion it was agreed to urge governments, central and regional, to develop measures within the Equality Act in access to employment, with special emphasis on aspects related to the stability, quality, and equal pay between men and women and to achieve true reconciliation of work and family, promoting real equality in all public policies and society.

Similarly, it is proposed to ask the national government the extension of maternity leave from four to six months following the guidelines established by WHO with regard to infant feeding, because with the current four months is impossible.

The joint proposal aims to regional government the need to increase the budget for policies of equality and prevention of gender violence and the need to recover in the municipalities the figure of the Equality Officer.

In addition, it advocates continue to promote the City Council of Totana work coeducation, which involves values ​​transmitted norms and behaviors, knowledge and behaviors through education campaigns in partnership with schools in the municipality.

It is also suggested expanding the network of services and support to ensure the development of the Comprehensive Law against Gender Violence, pledging once again in the fight against all forms of abuse, assault on the dignity and freedom of women, especially trafficking in human beings for sexual exploitation.

The motion proposes to continue working for the rights of women, including the right to vote on all matters relating to their sexual and reproductive health;

and combating the feminization of poverty and social exclusion by supporting women in vulnerable situations, especially for older women and those who are responsible for single parents.

In the joint motion the commitment to an engaged citizenry to equality and the development of a new social contract that promotes the full development of women and men as the best way to deal with a collective solution to the difficult economic situation which defends It is facing our country today.
