The Civil Guard and the Local Police dismantle an "indoor" greenhouse, with nearly a thousand marijuana plants in Totana (09/05/2020)

The operation, called "Hellen", has resulted in the arrest of the person in charge of the plantation, a 43-year-old man from Totana, who has been brought to justice as the alleged perpetrator of a drug trafficking crime.The Civil Guard and the Local Police have dismantled a few days ago an "indoor" greenhouse with about a thousand marijuana plants in Totana.

The actions began last April, when Totana Local Police officers passing by a street in the town, and alerted by the strong smell of marijuana, observed several indications that in a warehouse located on that street, it could have a marijuana plantation, so they proceeded to investigate in order to obtain the data of the owner or user of said property. The assistants reported this incident to the Local Police Headquarters, which gave instructions for all the data obtained to be communicated to the Investigation Unit of the Totana Guard post, who continued with the corresponding procedures in order to verify the facts and , where appropriate, clarify them.Once all the necessary indications were obtained, the Civil Guard, together with local police agents, carried out the entry and search of the property, in which they found a sophisticated clandestine greenhouse enabled for the production of marijuana.In addition to the nearly 1,000 cannabis sativa plants, law enforcement officers seized all supplies related to intensive cultivation of marijuana, such as sophisticated lighting, ventilation, irrigation and heating devices.

The registration culminated in the arrest of the person in charge of the plantation as an alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health, for cultivation or drug production. In addition, and after verifying it with the electricity supply company, the investigators found that the dismantled clandestine greenhouse of marijuana had an illicit connection to the electrical network, for which reason proceedings were also conducted as the alleged perpetrator of the crime of defrauding electricity.

The operation is still open, according to the same sources from the Local Police Headquarters.
