The City Council urges users to deposit garbage in containers in the hours allowed

In addition, owners of domestic animals are required to remove excreta from public roads to avoid neighborhood complaints and administrative sanctions

The Local Police of Totana will intensify, both with uniformed and civilian agents, the surveillance on the public roads of the urban area in compliance with the Municipal Ordinances of Urban Hygiene and the Protection and Tenure of Companion Animals.

The most frequent reasons for the sanctions are for depositing the garbage in the containers outside the established schedule, taking it to the public road in days and times not allowed.

The schedules established both in winter and in summer are from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

and it is reminded that on Saturdays the trash is not to be deposited since such service is not provided.

In addition, other circumstances are throwing glasses and other objects on public roads, urinating on public roads, not picking up the droppings of domestic animals on public roads, placing posters without proper authorization or distributing leaflets and advertising without the required permission, among others.

The penalties imposed for these offenses range up to 750 euros for those considered minor, up to 1,500 euros for serious and up to 3,000 euros for the most serious.

Citizen awareness

The municipal ordinance of Urban Hygiene establishes that the owners of animals are responsible for the damages or affections to people and things and for any action that causes dirt on public roads and that, in the absence of the owner, will be responsible for accompanying the animal at the time of the action.

According to the Municipal Ordinance, municipal agents are authorized, at all times, to demand from the owner or holder of the animal the immediate repair of the caused condition.

The non-removal of excrement from public roads is considered a minor offense for both ordinances and can be sanctioned with a fine of up to 600 euros.
