Demolish the abandoned buildings located in the Paseo de las Ollerías, next to the La Santa promenade, conserving two Moor ovens of relevant heritage value (30/05/2019)

The City of Totana has recently proceeded to the demolition of the abandoned buildings located in the Paseo de las Ollerías, next to the La Santa rambla, conserving two Moorish kilns of heritage value and a "mine", whose performances they have been technically supervised by the archaeologists Verónica Carricondo and José Antonio González Guerao.

The Local Government Board already awarded last March the demolition contract, with technical archaeological monitoring, of these buildings to the company "Construcciones Hermanos Palomares, SA", for an amount of 12,402.50 euros including VAT.

In this way, they have basically undertook work demolition of the abandoned building, debris and cleaning the land affected by the demolition and fencing of the resulting site;

as well as the most immediate urgent adjustment of the two ovens located in the area, of an important heritage value, dating from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries that offer a good state of preservation.

The pretense is its conditioning by virtue of subsidies from other administrations, just as happened with the existing one next to the old Technological Center of Crafts, and incorporate it to a future touristic route of ovens that serve as a tourist attraction in the traditional zone of Las Ollerías, where most of the pottery activity and artisan crafts of that time were concentrated.

At the time of bidding for these actions, two companies concurred;

and the City Hall has already issued a resolution in October 2017 ordering the subsidiary execution of the demolition works of the abandoned building, owned by the company "Pomociones Archivel, SL".

The state of ruin of the building, which was a source of dirt and insalubrity, was already declared in January of that year, as well as the clearing and cleaning of the land affected by the demolition and fencing of the resulting site.

Now, this space is temporarily conditioned to be arranged and projected within the policies of conservation of the historical and monumental heritage of Totana in order to offer it to neighbors and visitors in a context of expanding the cultural and tourist offer of the municipality, as reported by the councilor of Archaeological Sites, Juan José Cánovas.
