Civil Protection in Totana offers a series of preventive recommendations against the expected cold wave, with a sudden drop in temperatures, which is expected to be registered in the Region of Murcia during this weekend, and more specifically from tomorrow Friday.

From Civil Protection it is recommended to wear the right clothes;

and it is better to put several garments on top of each other so that the air circulates and so it works as an insulator instead of putting a tight fit on the skin.

In addition, it is advocated that users avoid the entry of cold in the lungs and not perform excessive physical exercises, the cold is not good for circulation.

In the case of family situations, it is recommended to always carry the medicines that a family member requires, to keep children away from stoves and braziers and for the heart patients the cold exerts an extra tension, which is why it is not advisable to expose them to risk of heart attack.

In homes, it is recommended to close everything that can produce electricity, close doors and windows in the afternoon to keep the heat in the interior of the houses avoiding electrical consumption, always have flashlights and candles, avoid poisoning caused by coal braziers picón or stoves of wood, coal or gas in closed places without renewal of air and keep a faucet slightly open to prevent the pipes from freezing.

If you have to travel, it is advisable to use, if possible, public transport;

try not to travel alone and check your car before leaving;

and learn about roads and weather conditions.

Similarly, it is recommended to avoid driving at night, to be informed of alternative routes and shelters where to take refuge, to carry utensils in the car such as blankets, ropes and some food;

and take the full fuel tank to refuel every 100 kilometers.

and use the chains in case of snow or ice using short gears.
