ATTENTION !: Totana mobilizes more than fifty people in front of the cold drop warning and the complications that the torrential rains announced for this weekend may bring. (19/10/2018)

More than fifty people are mobilized in Totana before the announcement of cold drop for the next few days, so they are on alert before the torrential rain episode from the Local Police and emergency services of Civil Protection to technicians of the different councils, checkpoints, the Water Service, the Municipal Warehouse and municipal companies such as the cleaning service and public lighting.

Those responsible for Local Police and Civil Protection have held a coordination meeting today in order to set strategies and joint actions with the special device that will remain on alert before the warning of possible floods, collected in the Municipal Emergency Plan of Totana within the Territorial Civil Protection.

All the resources of the City Council will remain mobilized before the warning of orange alert that has been raised by the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) for rains since midnight and the day of this Saturday.

The orange warning will be active from twelve tonight until three in the afternoon tomorrow.

The device will be composed of 15 local police officers divided into several shifts, a score of volunteers Civil Protection and five vehicles in pre-alert and all operators, if necessary, the Municipal Water Service and the Department of Services the City and Infrastructures, according to those responsible.

In addition, all municipal sports facilities will be closed after all the federations have announced the suspension of official competitions during this weekend.

It is also possible that the municipal park "Marcos Ortiz" has to be closed, depending on the weather evolution, due to the danger of detachment and falling branches.

In this sense, Local Police and Civil Protection recommend, in the face of this episode of torrential rains, to always remain calm, if possible not to leave the house in the hours that the atmospheric phenomenon occurs;

and if it is essential to do so, plan the route taking into account the flood zones of the municipality, and that there may be culvert covers that have been moved, or that are not in place.

It warns of the need not to cross ravines or flooded areas, neither in vehicle nor on foot, since it is not known what there may be under the water, nor the dragging that they may cause;

and not be near trees and poles that can be pulled down.

In this sense, it is very important to get away from the ravines, the torrents or the areas that can be flooded and not park the vehicle logically in them.

Other simple recommendations
